| Mar 1989 | Capital Hotel, mainly engaged in state affairs and foreign reception, was soft open. The names of Capital Hotel, its ballroom and in-house restaurants were handwritten by the famous calligraphers including Wang Xiaju, Li Duo and Xiao Lao. |
| July 1991 | Capital Hotel was rated as a four-star hotel by the National Tourism Administration. |
| Nov 1992 | The owner of Capital Hotel and Singapore Overseas Union Enterprise (OUE) agreed to establish a joint venture named Capital Hotel Co., Ltd. Thereafter the Capital Hotel was managed by Singapore Mandarin Hotel Management Group. |
| 1995-1996 | The Hotel underwent complete renovation and the brand new Capital Club Lounge was constructed. |
| Jun 1996 | The newly-built Capital Club Lounge was opened to public. |
| 1998-1999 | The in-house restaurants, ballroom and other facilities were renovated. |
| Mar 2003 | Four Seasons Restaurant was built and the Hotel Lobby was upgraded. |
| Mar 2004 | The owner of Capital Hotel and Singapore Overseas Union Enterprise (OUE) agreed to terminate the contract. The Capital Hotel renewed its role as a state-owned individual hotel. |

| Feb 2007 | Capital Hotel was awarded Gold Leaf ‘Green Hotel’ by the National Tourism Administration. |
